2008 United Nations Climate Change Conference

The 2008 United Nations Climate Change Conference took place at the PIF Congress Center, Poznan International Fair (PIF), in Poznań , Poland , between December 1 and December 12, 2008. [1] Representatives from over 180 countries attended along with observers from intergovernmental nongovernmental organizations.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 14) and the 4th Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (MOP 4 or CMP 4). Subsidiaries of these bodies, including the fourth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 4), resumed session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 6), and the twenty-second session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 29), and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 29). [2] Continue reading “2008 United Nations Climate Change Conference”

2007 United Nations Climate Change Conference

United Nations Climate Change conference

The United Nations Climate Change Conferences are held in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). They serve as the formal meeting of the UNFCCC Parties ( Conference of the Parties , COP) to for Assessment progress in dealing with climate change , and Beginning in the mid-1990s, to negotiate the Kyoto Protocol to suit les Legally binding obligations for Developed Countries to Reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. [1] From 2005 the Conference also served as the “Conference of the Parties Serving the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol” (CMP); [2]also parties to the Convention that are not parties to the Protocol can participate in Protocol-related meetings as observers. From 2011 the meetings have been made to negotiate the Paris Agreement as part of the Durban platform activities until its conclusion in 2015, which created a general path towards climate action. World People’s Conference on Climate Change

The World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth was a global gathering of civil society and governments hosted by the Bolivia in Tiquipaya, just outside the city of Cochabamba from April 19-22, 2010. World Climate Change Conference, Moscow

The World Climate Change Conference was held in Moscow from September 29 to October 3, 2003. The initiative of the Conference was taken by Vladimir Putin , President of the Russian Federation. The Conference was convened by the Russian Federation, and supported by international bodies including the United Nations [1] . It should not be confused with the World Climate Conferences . Vienna Conference (1985)

The Vienna Conference was the first international conference on ozone depletion . It was held in Vienna, Austria in 1985 when a hole in the stratospheric ozone layer was observed in the South Pole marked by increased UV-B infiltration over Antarctica. A ‘hole’, marked by significant drop in ozone molecules in the layer, as wide as that of United States was discovered by a British team. The Vienna Convention for the Protection of Ozone Layer was agreed at the conference and it entered into force in 1987.
